FAQs

Therapy is a collaborative process between a therapist and a client aimed at addressing personal challenges and improving overall well-being. It can benefit individuals by providing a supportive space to explore emotions, gain insight, develop coping strategies, and work towards personal growth and healing.

Therapy is beneficial for anyone who wants support, guidance, or a safe space to process their thoughts and emotions. It is not solely for individuals with severe mental health challenges; it can help people facing various issues, including relationship issues, life transitions, stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and self-esteem concerns.

The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual and their goals. Some people may find relief after a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. As therapy progresses, the frequency and intensity of sessions can be adjusted to meet the client’s needs.

Our sessions start at $125 per session but we do offer a fixed amount of sliding scale slots to accommodate those with financial barriers.

State requirements for therapists to obtain their independent license can vary, with some states mandating a pre-licensure period which can typically range from 2-3 years or several thousands of clinical hours. Being pre-licensed does not mean that a therapist is unqualified to practice. Pre Licensed therapists have completed their education and are following the necessary steps outlined by their state’s guidelines.

In the state of Florida specifically, where we are located, individuals in the process of becoming fully licensed therapists are known as “Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Interns.” These professionals are assigned a pre-license number and work under the supervision of a fully licensed and qualified therapist supervisor.

Working with registered therapists, sometimes known as pre-licensed or provisionally licensed therapists, can provide several advantages. These therapists bring a fresh perspective to therapy, reflecting their recent completion of education and training. Additionally, they often offer more affordable therapy options. Registered therapists are also enthusiastic about receiving feedback and guidance from experienced practitioners, leading to their own growth and development as therapists.

Ultimately, these factors work together to enhance the quality of therapeutic interventions, benefiting the client. In addition,  qualifications and licenses are important, but they’re not the only pieces of the puzzle. When selecting a therapist, it’s equally important to consider elements such as their unique communication style, therapy philosophy, and approach to treatment, regardless of where they may be on their professional journey. This is because therapy is all about connection and finding the perfect fit.
